July 2017 – Effective July 31, 2017, Kimberlee Archie will begin her tenure as City of Asheville’s first Equity & Inclusion Manager. Hailing from the state of Washington, Kimberlee is a not only a proven leader, but an established trainer in equity and inclusion nationwide. Proving to be very instrumental in operationalizing race and social equity within local government, Kimberlee succeeded in numerous transformational efforts at the City of Seattle serving as the Deputy Director of the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods. Kimberlee was selected via a nationwide search performed by The Hawkins Company. Gary Jackson, the City Manager of Asheville said, “we are very excited to find an Equity and Inclusion Manager who has such passion for social equity.
