August, 2015, The City of Berkeley has awarded The Hawkins Company with a contract to recruit the Director of the City’s Health, Housing, and Community Services Department (HHCS).  Established in 2012, HHCS is committed to social and environmental justice and to promoting equity in health, housing, and economic opportunity. The department consists of the following divisions: Office of the Director and Administration; Aging Services; Environmental Services; Housing and Community Services; Mental Health Services; and Public Health Services.  The current budget is $41 million and consists of 214 staff. The City selected The Hawkins Company because of its extensive background in public sector recruiting and its healthcare practice led by Kellie Hawkins. Ms. Hawkins, said, “This is a unique opportunity to support the City’s commitment to equity within critical areas such as health, housing, and human services.” Brett Byers, Managing Director and Project Manager on the search added, “We are eager to work with the City’s leadership on this important recruitment.”
